Taking Care of Your CoxBox

Charging the CoxBox

Ø    Put the CoxBox on charge when not in use. But, DO NOT leave the unit on charge for more than two days in a row.

Ø    The red charging light will come on when the charger is connected to the unit and plugged into the wall outlet.

Ø    Make sure that the CoxBox is turned off before charging. Extended charging will damage the internal batteries.

Ø    If the “BAT” warning comes on, charge the unit for at least 16 hours. Continuous usage with a low battery warning will damage the batteries.

The Microphone

Ø    The microphone is not bendable. DO NOT attempt to bend it, you will break it! They are not repairable and must be replaced.

Ø    DO NOT carry the CoxBox by the microphone.

Ø    The headband is removable and can be washed with mild laundry soap and cold water. Hang to dry.

Using the CoxBox

Ø    Be gentle when connecting and disconnection the plugs to the unit. NEVER pull on the wires to disconnect, grab the connectors to do this.

Ø    Battery management is important especially at a regatta. Be sure to turn off the unit when you are not on the water. Volume control leads to battery life.

Ø    If you turn the volume to maximum, the battery will only last 1hour. So it is very important to keep the volume at a level to talk with your rowers, but not drain your battery. Save the high volume for when you need to get their attention and motivate them.

Ø    If you are getting crackling sounds from the speakers or the sound cuts in and out, tell the coach. We will work on fixing this BEFORE a regatta.

Ø    The timer on the unit will start when the “stroke” moves their seat past the sensor. It will count the stroke rate and show elapsed time. Hold the toggle switch down for 1 second to reset it.
